Wildomar resident Steve Beutz on Wednesday May, 26, 2010 received a favorable decision on his appeal regarding parks assessments. His suit contended that the County decision to assess fees on property owners to fund then shuttered parks in Wildomar was unconstitutional. He lost that suit, but appealed the decision. He has now won on appeal.

What does this mean for Wildomar's parks? Can the cash strapped, fledgling City of Wildomar find the funds necessary to keep them open, or will the parks yet again be closed to public use?

Beutz ran a failed attempt at election to the inaugural city council in 2008. He campaigned against Wildomar incorporation.

Beutz and associate Gerard Ste. Marie have filed multiple lawsuits regarding issues relating to Wildomar.

Possible Park Closing
Thank you for having more information on the possible park closing than the City of Wildomar''s website had. The City sends out emails to everyone in their database but only gives you the letter from the Major. Why doesn''t she give people more history of the lawsuit or at least have it on their website. Does she want people to contact the City Attorney''s office or what?
Why not try to enlist the community of Wildomar in an effort to stop this nonsense.

City Of Wildomar Press Release
CITY OF WILDOMAR
PRESS RELEASE

APPROVED FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BY: Frank Oviedo

PARK FUNDING THREATENED

WILDOMAR, CA
On Wednesday May 26,2010, the California Court of Appeals ruled against the County of Riverside in a lawsuit brought about by a resident of the City of Wildomar regarding an improper establishment of the assessment district that pays for the operating and maintenance costs of Wildomar's parks.

The County and City have jointly paid thousands of dollars defending the City of Wildomar's residents against this lawsuit and several others of the same nature. "This will have devastating consequences for the children of our community who may not have parks to play in", said Mayor Moore.

The City Attorney's Office is reviewing the Courts opinion in order to analyze the affect it will have on the City's budget. Mayor Moore went on to say, "It's too bad some people think it's more important to waste taxpayer dollars with costly lawsuits that directly hurt families in Wildomar. There are alternatives, like working with our new City administration to address issues. We incorporated so we can work with our residents to solve problems. I guess some people think wasting tax dollars to make a point is better than working together. It's very disappointing."
